Listen to a Welcome Message From Mardi

Why This Exists

I've spent almost thirty years inside divorce — as a litigator, then a mediator, and once, on the other side of the table, in my own. I've sat with hundreds of people trying to make impossible decisions on the worst days of their lives.

And here's what I've found, no matter the divorce: nobody teaches people how to stay regulated while their whole life is reorganizing itself.

Most people who sit across from me aren't calm. They're frozen — can't return the call, can't open the email, can't make a decision that used to take thirty seconds. Scared in a low-grade way that never fully turns off, until it stops even registering as fear. It's just how the days feel now. You know the feeling. Rereading the same text from your ex for the tenth time. Standing in the grocery store, forgetting why you walked in. Bracing — for what, you couldn't say. Just bracing.

Here's the one thing I come back to, no matter the divorce:

Clear thinking needs a grounded body. That's it.

It doesn't have to be perfect. Nothing to be fixed. Just enough presence in your body to actually think, instead of running on fear alone.

That's what this is. Thirty years of knowing this work from the inside, turned into short, practical tools — for the legal decisions in front of you, and for the moments your body checks out before you've even made one. Not another voice naming what's wrong. Something to actually do.

This is not therapy. Not legal representation. Not performative self-help.

It's a grounded space to help you think more clearly, feel less alone, and move through this season without losing yourself in it.

This Is For You If

  • You're moving through your days on autopilot — present enough to function, gone enough that you're not really there.
  • You're making huge decisions overwhelmed, and you know it. You just don't know what else to do.
  • Fear shows up before logic does. It has for a while now
  • You want practical guidance, but you need to feel steady enough to actually use it
  • You're done with self-help that talks around the fear instead of into it.
  • You're always bracing. You couldn't say for what anymore. You just are.

About Mardi

I'm Mardi Chadwick-Balcom.

I'm a divorce mediator, former litigating attorney, and the host of The Regulated Lawyer Podcast. For nearly 30 years, I've worked with people navigating conflict, fear, grief, transition, and high-stakes decisions — including years spent as an attorney inside domestic violence organizations, some of the hardest rooms this field has.

Somewhere along the way, I started training in the other half of this work too — somatic coaching, yoga, breathwork, energy and sound healing. Not a departure from the legal side. Something that runs alongside it. These are the same tools I use with clients, and the ones I use on myself, so I can actually show up for this work day after day.

This space is where I stop choosing one side or the other. I've spent years learning how to hold both — and I've sat on the other side of the table, too. I've been through my own divorce. I know what it's like to try to think clearly while your entire life reorganizes itself.

That's what I bring here. A path through the crisis, not around it.

And yes — there may be tuning forks. Conversations about the moon, Human Design, the occasional Tarot card. This is where the legal side meets the woo side, unapologetically. I can't wait to bring you in.
